This is a place to share our lives with those who mean so much to us. It's a place to track our comings and goings, childhood's moments of beauty, growth, happiness, sadness, wisdom, and hilarity that are otherwise all-too-soon forgotten. So come in and make yourself comfortable in this circus bigtop we otherwise call our daily life - the show has just begun!

Thursdays with Carmen

I'm officially back online!! Now that we've got our hookup problems corrected, I can reconnect with all you lovely people, and give some much-needed TLC to my little bloggie spot.

Our gypsy wagon is once again packed and ready to go. The kitchen sink is strapped to the top. After all, one can always use some decent drinking water while traveling! The song, "On the road again..." is playing through my head, and I can already feel the blessed bumps of the open road. Only kidding - it's not the open road I crave, but where that road leads to. The kids and I are taking off to my parents' house in a few days. My Mom will be driving with us. Can anyone say, "Four days of DVD cartoons"? :) Hopefully it won't come to that - the kids are good travelers, and Katya sleeps constantly, so it should be a decent trip.

Vlad is taking off to Moscow on the 19th for about 10 days. He has a conference there, and so he combined the trip to spend some time with his family at the same time. He'll swoop down to pick us up on his way home, just in time for the new school year to begin. What a whirlwind summer! For all those of you in Phoenix, we're really looking forward to seeing you again!

Today.....

I am Thankful for....a healthy baby girl, good neighbors who let our kids play in their yard, a mother who is like the Energizer battery, and a father who keeps letting us borrow her.

I'm listening to...a Caillou cartoon, Claire catapulting herself over a big ball, and Katya beginning to whine for a milk refill, the dishwasher chugging away.

Looking foward to....the moment when my countertops are wiped and the back door is clean of fingerprints and the floors are vacuumed ALL AT THE SAME TIME, and the moment when Vlad arrives in Phoenix and we're all together again.

Praying about...Vlad's citizenship interview scheduled for the 18th of Aug.

What's for Dinner Tonight... steam-in-the-bag pasta dish, gourmet taste for only 10 minutes of cook time and $3.44 per bag!

Missing....my super-duper battery charger, claire's flower earring, and the baby gas drops.

Katya

(Click on the photo for a better view).

I am finally at a computer. It's been weeks!! We moved into our new house about 2 weeks ago and for some reason the internet service provider is having a hard time getting our address into their system since we are semi-rural, and therefore can't seem to get us set up for internet. It may still be a while. So right now I've hopped on to the internet at Vlad's office because the birth of our little Katya is something that I simply cannot neglect to post about. Katya was born two days ago on Saturday and stole our hearts at first glance. A perfect little bundle with lots of dark hair and a very calm and sweet disposition. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay in the part of the maternity ward that allowed us a private room and Vlad could stay with us the entire time. What a blessing! The kids are loving her although Spencer has suggested we re-name her Savannah because he can't keep from confusing the names of his aunt Kyra and his sister Katya! Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers. I miss connecting with you all and I regret that I'll have to slip back into internet oblivion yet again until I can catch a connection. Hopefully before too long we'll be up and running.... xoxo Carmen
