This is a place to share our lives with those who mean so much to us. It's a place to track our comings and goings, childhood's moments of beauty, growth, happiness, sadness, wisdom, and hilarity that are otherwise all-too-soon forgotten. So come in and make yourself comfortable in this circus bigtop we otherwise call our daily life - the show has just begun!

Thursdays with Carmen

Today I am thankful for…finding a really wonderful and knowledgable woman at an agency who seems to know all the ins and outs of Russian adoption. Also very thankful for my mom's group at church. I love this group of women more and more each season we meet together. Also very thankful for the date night that Vlad and I took this week - maybe the first time we ever just paid a babysitter to come and we went out for no particular reason other than to spend relaxing time together.

I'm listening to…Claire count to five over and over again. I haven't yet figured out why, but I think it has something to do with Diego. Also listening to Katya chase Spencer through the house, quietly calling "'Pencer….'Pence!" And the footsteps of the boys going up and down the stairs as quietly as they can because they think I'm not noticing that they're doing something they shouldn't.

Looking forward to…watching "Around the World in 80 Days" (the 1988 Michael Palin documentary) with the boys on Netflix today. It's really great!!

Missing…my phone, at the moment. I think I'll recover it today, though. Also missing is the know-how for motivating Collin to want to read. I think it's laziness, but it is my #1 home-schooling woe of the moment.

Burning question of the week: why, oh why, do I get so frustrated with my kids over stupid things?  How can I change to being a more positive parent?
